Tuesday 20 June 2017

DPS who are expanding their global architecture, design and engineering operation in the U.S., was selected to attend the major investment summit in Washington DC by SelectUSA- a U.S. government-wide program housed in the International Trade Administration (ITA) at the United States Department of Commerce.

The SelectUSA Investment Summit is an annual event which aims to connect serious business investors with promising growth opportunities. Participants in the past have announced over $20 or €17.9 billion in new investments in the last three years. The summit brings together companies from all over the world, economic development agencies from across the U.S. and other parties working to facilitate business investment in the states.

“I have personally never seen so many individuals together in the same place, at the same time, that were ready to get business done [as there were at the summit]”

- O. Kip Dillihay II, Representative of State of South Carolina.

Each international market around the world is allocated a number of spots for investors that the US Government feel will enhance the US economy in the future. DPS is one of eight Irish companies to be selected to attend this prestigious event.

The previous US Ambassador to Ireland, Kevin O’Malley, led a delegation of Irish companies to the 2016 SelectUSA Investment Summit which was hosted by former President Barack Obama. This year the Chargé d’Affaires to Ireland, Reece Smyth, will be leading a delegation that will provide insights from the new administration and other industrial leaders.

Commenting on DPS’s participation in the SelectUSA Investment Summit, DPS Executive Director of Business Development Gerry Hamill (pictured below with the U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce, Israel Hernandez) had this to say:

“DPS has enjoyed phenomenal success in recent years, doubling our turnover and employment. We already operate three offices along the East Coast of America, as we have expanded our footprint in the US market. By attending the Summit we hope to seek opportunities to further enhance our growth and expansion in the United States.”
