About this project

DPS executed full EPCMV project services to deliver a cGMP upgrade to an existing Buss loop technology based Hydrogenation facility in the heart of the BMS facility in Swords. The scope included design and supply of new catalyst make up vessels, contained API powder handling and cryogenic abatement of VOC emissions of the saturated hydrogen gas vent stream. As part of the facility upgrade, Damage Limiting Construction was applied to the blast retaining facades with blast relief to an external elevation. The project was constructed adjacent to live manufacturing plant and was executed without any disruption to existing operations.

This is an example of a very successful aging facility upgrade ensuring continuity of manufacture within a now very high quality facility and best in class safety environment.

Much use was made of laser survey to generate accurate 3D models of the existing facility enabling the designers to effectively design clash free, complex piping solutions within the constraints of existing installations. The project included cGMP upgrades to wall, floor and process platform finishes. Process containment was designed to 1µg/m2.
