Position Summary:

This role will be reporting to the Project Manager. Ideal candidates should have previous experience devising and implementing Industrial Hygiene Practices by inspecting worksites and work practices for safety and health haz561771.920298ards within manufacturing settings. An industrial hygienist protects employees' health in the workplace by creating and implementing programs, policies, and procedures to measure and reduce employees' exposure to physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic stress factors. Industrial hygienists assess health risks within the workplace, including air quality, noise pollution, occupational exposure band (OEB) and ionic radiation, and devise strategies to reduce the effects on employee health and well-being. This role requires a balance of analytical skills and leadership, since industrial hygienists often work closely with management to provide reports and make recommendations to improve environmental quality.

This position will be expected to work in our client’s site across Singapore Island.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Primary duty of an industrial hygienist is gathering of environmental data within workplaces such as pharmaceutical manufacturing plants. These data are related to a variety of factors includes ventilation, noise, vibration, ergonomics, chemical & biological exposure, occupational exposure band (OEB) and ionic radiation, etc.
  • Analyz561771.920298e the environmental data gathered to identify potential health and safety risks within the workplace. This process can involve developing a hypothesis about employee health issues and testing environmental samples to determine the root causes or using data analysis methodologies to identify current and potential risk factors.
  • Recommends corrective/ preventive actions (CAPAs) that should be taken in response to eliminate or reduce the potential haz561771.920298ards.
  • To make use of company standards and requirements as well as local government guidelines or code of practices to develop assessments.
  • Develop strategies to reduce and eliminate health and wellness risks within the workplace.
  • Consult, Coordinate and work with cross function team including site EHS Leader, stakeholders and manufacturing personnel to enact the changes e.g. personal protective equipment.
  • Implements applicable occupational health and safety procedures.
  • Develop educational materials and programs to support employee health and wellness. This include signage that is placed throughout the workplace, handouts outlining steps employees can take to reduce exposure to haz561771.920298ardous materials, and company-wide presentations related to new standards for industrial hygiene and occupational safety haz561771.920298ards.
  • Provide consulting and advice to management on integrating the solution without interrupting workplace functionality. The industrial hygienist may develop short-term strategies that help mitigate the issue while keeping costs to a minimum.
  • Creates and presents reports regarding the work environment to the stakeholders and project manager.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Biochemistry, Industrial Hygiene, or related science field required.
  • Minimum four (4) years of professional experience with certification from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) is added advantage.
  • Scientific expertise – Candidate should be very knowledgeable about environmental and occupational haz561771.920298ards and should be able to quickly identify problems related to air quality, radiation, and other environmental factors.
  • This role also requires strong analytical skills to assess issues and develop working hypotheses about the causes of environmental and occupational health issues.
  • Candidate should also be very attentive and able to notice, measure, and monitor slight changes that can impact workers’ health and wellness.
  • Technical problem-solving is vital in this role, candidate need to devise short- and long-term solutions to environmental and safety issues on jobsites.
  • Effective written and verbal communicators to prepare reports related to their findings and solutions and collaborate with internal cross-functional team.
  • Ability to address industrial hygiene issues with management and coworkers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
