Arcadis are seeking a WWTP Engineer to support day to day operations at a leading pharmaceutical facility in Cork

The WWTP Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the water treatment plant on a daily basis. This role involves monitoring plant performance, troubleshooting operational issues, maintaining compliance with environmental regulations, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and optimize daily operations of the water treatment plant, including chemical dosing, filtration, and disinfection processes.
  • Safety & Compliance: Conduct JSAs, review site standards, and ensure adherence to GMP and SOPs.
  • Regulatory Oversight: Monitor site license limit and implement control measures through A3 problem-solving
  • WWTP operations, oversee permitting and contractors and act as WWTP Lead as needed.
  • Environmental & Compliance: Liaise with EHS/QA teams, manage SOPs and permitting activities.
  • Facility & Maintenance Management: Oversee site maintenance, resolve technical issues, manage WWTP purchasing, stock, and deliveries
  • Inspections & Audits: Coordinate and lead regulatory audits, ensure compliance with EPA license requirements
  • Cnduct routine inspections and performance checks on equipment and systems
  • Respond to operational issues and emergencies, providing timely technical support and resolution
  • Maintain accurate records of plant performance, maintenance activities, and compliance data
  • Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Support maintenance teams with troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with local and national environmental and safety regulations.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and reporting activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Provide training and guidance to plant operators and junior staff
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in water treatment plant operations or similar industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of water treatment processes and technologies.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Desirable:
  • Experience with asset management systems (e.g., CMMS), an advantage
  • Certification in water treatment operations ad advantage (e.g., IWTO, EPA)
  • Project management experience.
