Position Summary:
This internship position will be responsible for assisting the various departments within DPS with their daily tasks as well as learning the overall elements of the general contracting/ construction industry.

Key responsibilities:
Responsibilities shall include but not limited to:

  • Intern will report to the Project Manager.
  • Shadow the PM or Manager
  • Observing and /or interacting with various professionals related to the construction field
  • Attending staff and departmental meetings on an ongoing basis and any appropriate management or coordination meetings.
  • Monitor and document construction work in progress
  • Assist in the coordination of jobsite activity during the construction phase
  • Completing, updating and distributing project management communications of various types such as safety inspections, material and labour logs, inventory and meeting minutes.
  • Assisting with the overall project management responsibilities including, scheduling and coordination of subcontractors and vendors.
  • Assist in warranty and maintenance calls.
  • Learn how to gather all the necessary information for a project.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform routine aspects of construction management requiring knowledge and application of basic construction principles under close supervision

Education & Experience:

  • Internship for upcoming Bachelor’s Degree in construction or business-related field

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Work with others as a team player

  • Ability to interface with subcontractors, suppliers and designers while developing a bid as needed
  • Knowledge of estimating multiple building/project types
  • Computer proficiency in the Windows environment
