About the Role

DPS Group has expanded its learning and development team significantly and we now have an opportunity for an experienced instructional designer to join the team to support the development and delivery of the Central Learning & Development Strategy.  In creating and developing
interactive learning experiences, the goal is to facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills, and competencies in an effective and appealing manner within a newly established LMS and Learning Program at DPS Group.


Key Responsibilities
  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and supports employee career paths
  • Work with SMEs and identify the target audience and training needs within the organisation
  • Create instructional goals and develop content that matches them, using techniques including storyboarding, plan outlines, by identifying and setting learning objectives
  • Visualise instructional graphics, the user interface, and the finished product considering usability, scalability and accessing micro learning
  • Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts
  • Apply tested instructional design theories, practices, and methods
  • Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
  • Create supporting material/ media (audio, video, simulations, role-plays, games, etc)
  • Decide on the criteria used to judge learner’s performance and develop assessment instruments
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders
  • Manage system administration on Compass LMS
  • Maintain Content Templates and Content Creation processes
  • Maintain LMS Configuration and Administrative Tasks – including Supporting BU Admins, Assigning Learning & Running reports Monthly & Quarterly

Requirements and skills

  • Knowledge of Articulate Storyline and Rise is essential
  • Knowledge in Adobe Suite of software including Camtasia, Illustrate, Photoshop DreamWeaver, XD
  • Proven working experience in instructional design with instructional technology
  • Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
  • Lesson and curriculum planning skills
  • Basic HTML and Flash programming knowledge
  • Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System
  • Visual design skills (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator) and ability to storyboard
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
  • Formal qualifications in instructional design, educational technology, HR, L&D or similar

This position is initially a 12 month Fixed Term Contract with a view to permanency.
