About Our Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced EHS Manager to join our team in Visp, and to take the lead on a significant project biopharma project in the region.  With your lead we will ensure a primary focus on  the health, safety and welfare of our site and project teams, as well as monitoring and ensuring environmental compliance across the project.  You will be a key member of a team that delivers "best in class" safety in our designs for industry-leading clients around the world. 

The following provides a summary of the main activities associated with this role

Project Execution

• Build on working relationship with Client & DPS Team, ensuring all personnel comply with project EHS
• Ensure all legislative requirements are met and that all DPS/Client EHS policies and procedures are adequately implemented and enforced.
• Advise the senior management on the development and implementation of health and safety strategies and policies.
• Provide EHS coaching/mentoring to any/all contractors/vendors and their management
• Provide EHS support to all functional areas and when required.
• Attending/Host various meetings including Project Steering | EHS | All Hands
• Chair weekly site Safety Meetings

Environmental

• Lead the Construction Environmental Management Plan for the project and liaise with the client.
• Engage with the weekly & monthly Environmental compliance monitoring and reporting.
• Ensuring Project Environmental targets are being achieved.
• Implement waste management best practices into the culture and day-to-day activities.

Field Assessments

• Execute Daily SPA audits, Weekly impact mitigation compliance audits. Implement Internal Audit processes across the project level and measure performance.
• Execute weekly project contractor compliance audit, provide feedback to trades/vendors, and drive issues to closure.
• Assist in trade waste and environmental queries and monitor compliance with waste segregation requirements.
• Perform field evaluation of any task/ equipment as requested
• Review and approve Risk Assessment /Method Statements as required. 
• Support field evaluations of proposed alternative means and methods for performing work (any deviations to Client requirements)
• Review compliance with Permit to Work and all associated task-specific Permits.

Injury Free Workplace (IFW)

• Assume a leadership role through coaching/mentoring/teaching, leading by example, and developing new ideas/programs to further the Injury Free Culture.
• Be proactive and intervene when necessary to bring about improvements, change of mindset, direction, or methods of work. 
• Assist with the completion of weekly EHS reports and weekly comms.
• Ensure timely reporting of all incidents, accidents, and near misses.
• Lead Integrated team for incident investigation

EHS Indicators

• Ensure both leading and lagging performance indicators are in place, tracked, and used to effectively manage performance trends.
• Capable of evaluating current performance indicators and implementing corrective actions, as necessary, to ensure project performance improvements.
• Ability to collate weekly & Monthly EHS data into KPI dashboard reports and present to the DPS Group & Client teams

Training

• Deliver EHS training material as required by the project, need to ensure all trade/vendors and management personnel are adequately aware of all safety requirements and performance expectations.
• Maintain training matrix and monitor compliance. 
• Attend professional development events and stay current with best practices and the latest software technology.
• In a position to conduct Behavioural Based Safety workshops on the project

Our Ideal Candidate Will Possess The Following : 

• Third Level in Occupational Health & Safety
• Minimum 5 - 7 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally with a background in the construction industry
• Strong leadership and influencing skills with the ability to facilitate and coach.
• Organised, energetic and self-motivated.
• Experience in environmental work and relevant
• Previous experience in Project Supervisor Design Process / Project Supervisor Construction Stage advantageous
• Thorough knowledge of current environmental health and safety legislation.
• Advanced Microsoft packages including Word/ Excel/PowerPoint.
• Strong organisational and multitasking skills, attention to detail, and reporting skills.
• Flexibility to work in an environment of multiple projects and varying workloads. 
• Very Strong IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and other common software tools, & willing to use the client electronic EHS data mining portal. * This is a strong must !
• A high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Experience in a training environment
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Mandatory strong English speaker along with German speaking would be an advantage.
