Purpose and Scope of Role:

At DPS Group suitably qualified and competent Environmental, Health & Safety officers are appointed to support the conduct of its operations on Projects.
The EHS Officer will be expected to support multiple projects when required.
An EHS officer is responsible for ensuring all construction activities are carried out in alignment with DPS Group Global & Client Safety Procedures, Guidelines and relevant regulatory requirements &guidelines. At all times the DPS Group officer will demonstrate the standards and values required by DPS Group
Global. He/she encourages supervision to be actively involved in Safety. Where witnessed, report near misses/accidents immediately and always set a good example on site. He / She conducts record Safe Plan of Action Assessments daily and conducts Scheduled EHS Audits

Environmental Health and Safety Duties
Client relationships:
• Build Strong client relationships based on experience and trust.
• Ensuring the client has a consistent client/customer experience every time they Interact with DPS Group Global Safety:
• Ensure that construction EHS Policies, procedures and guidelines are implemented within the project (i.e, EHS Minimum Requirements for construction)
• Ensure Electronic Safety Observation reports (e-SOR) are implemented and encourage participation by all project personnel.
• Ensure Safe Plan of Action/Safe Task Assessment (SPA/STA) are in place for all tasks. Perform Weekly EHS Audits on all individual contracting companies
• Ensure weekly safety meetings are in place and documented
• Ensure Safety Incidents are investigated, improvements implemented and incentive plans in place
• Ensure all temporary works are reviewed and approved and audited at least monthly
• Ensure the appropriate EHS construction inputs are provided for the project safety file
• Follow up with EHS Corrective actions on a daily basis Codes & Standards:
• Ensure full compliance with National /country Environmental Health and Safety legislation and also with DPS Group global EHS policies, Procedures & Guidelines.
• Advise the CMT, Contractor management & supervisors of any changes in regulations governing Environmental, Health and Safety
• Implement DPS Group EHS procedures, guidelines, and safety programmes
• Integrate DPS Group EHS Policies and Procedures with Client Site Operating Procedures

• Ensure team members are both responsible and held to account for their activities.
• Support and mentor/Coach DPS Group CMT in the execution of EHS duties
• Support/encourage contractors to use a collaborative approach and foster a EHS culture of teamwork
• Promote behaviours that are aligned with all the DPS Group Core EHS values and are compliant with all relevant HR requirements and programs

Education & Skills
• A Third Level qualification in Occupational Health and Safety
• 5+ years’ experience as a safety advisor in an associated sector (Ideally Construction, Pharmaceutical or a High tech Industry)
• Previous exposure of efficiently dealing with internal and external Clients.
• A motivated self-starter with excellent inter-personal, communication and organisational skills
• Flexibility and adaptability to respond to evolving project / client needs
• Possesses a high level of problem solving and decision-making ability
• Demonstrable ability to plan, organise and prioritise.
• Customer / Client Service Focused
• Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
• Committed to safe working practices on construction sites

Essential skills:
• Thorough knowledge of current local environmental health and safety legislation
• Computer literate and familiar with the major Microsoft packages including Word/ Excel/PowerPoint
• Ability to work and interface with personnel across all aspects of DPS business
• Good organisational and multitasking skills
• Strong attention to detail and reporting skills
• Flexibility to work in an environment of multiple projects and varying workloads
• Fluent in English and good knowledge of French &/or German
