This is a busy, energetic and supportive practice, suited to motivated professionals. A strong interest in all aspects of the construction industry would be expected.  The role is a technical lead and will complement that of the Architect. You will need to co-ordinate in-house engineers and technicians to deliver compliant building facilities. You will also need to manage internal and external team expectations. Ideally the candidate will be a Chartered Structural Engineer, however consideration will be given to experiential candidates.

Job Requirements:

Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following: 

  • 3rd Level qualification in Structural Engineering
  • Relevant structural design experience in Industrial / Pharmaceutical / Life Science projects is preferred and technically proficient in detailing these building types.
  • Experience using structural design and analysis software packages such as Revit, Tekla Structural Designer or equivalent. 
  • Knowledge of cleanroom materials and working knowledge of process and or manufacturing equipment an advantage.
  • Fully proficient / high degree of competence in BIM/Revit/Navisworks is essential.
  • A motivated and enquiring mind with excellent design, communication and organisational skills.
  • Relevant technical experience and be registered with MIEI or MIStructE.
  • IT proficiency and skills required to a high level.
  • The successful candidate will be self-motivated with an ability to work within the DPS Project Manager led team structure, with a minimum of 8 years post-graduate experience.
  • Strong design, technical and construction knowledge is essential for this role, combined with detailing, design development and tender pack assembly and coordination.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Statutory Consent processes (Planning, FSCA, DAC), current Building Regulations, and the BC(A)R process is essential.
  • Experience in client-facing role is essential, successful candidate will be involved in design and site meetings.
  • Experience working to compressed schedules and target deadlines.

• Interfacing with client design team/end users.
• Delivery of design scope within budget hours/schedule.
• Code review and statutory compliance.
• Leading design team to achieve project deliverables.
• Coordination of design with other design disciplines and equipment suppliers.
• Participation in Technical and Safety reviews.
• B(C)AR management
