Civil Superintendent - Clare

The successful Civil Superintendent will be from a trades background in Civil Structural, or with a qualification in Engineering/Architecture with 5+ years’ experience onsite.

Duties will include:

  • Ensure that all assigned personnel are instructed in and comply with all aspects of the DPS Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) policy, site security, site regulations, permit to work procedures and instructions and Client requirements.
  • Ensure that civil/structural/building contractors adhere strictly to the latest Issued for construction (IFC) project drawings, specifications, procedures and site instructions.
  • Supervise and co-ordinate the activities of assigned construction supervisors and engineers. Maintain daily supervisory surveillance checks and records, ensuring that contractors management and supervision are providing safe working conditions.
  • Routinely study, check and review all contractors scope as detailed in drawings, specifications and instructions, ensuring contractors proper interpretation and compliance with latest revision AFC drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure proper control of changes by issuing Contractor Instructions (CI’s) for all changes, reviewing Site Queries (SQ’s) to ensure responses are appropriate and practical, and reviewing Field Change Notices (FCN’s) prior to issue to contractors to ensure correct use of construction resources.
  • Ensure contractors dimensional control methods for checking that all works are properly set out and satisfactory. Supervise specialist surveying contractors when necessary.
  • Ensure all quality control checks and tests are instigated, with records maintained and available as required for concrete mix design, batching operations, concrete pour, foundation release, grouting release, area release etc., all in accordance with contractors quality plan, method statements and project specifications. Where applicable supervise the testing laboratory.
  • Agree method statements, risk assessments and job safety analysis. Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the agreed method statements.
