Resident Engineer (Civils)

Reporting to the DPS Project Manager the successful Civils Resident Engineer will be responsible for the following.

Discharge duties and responsibilities of the Supervisor under the contract

  • Development, review, and implementation of client assurance procedures 
  • Coordinate input from discipline engineers as required to ensure that Contractor works are undertaken in accordance with the contract
  • Chair period Quality Focus Meeting during which all aspects of the technical assurance of the contract are discussed with senior management of the contractor and the client. 
  • Undertaking/Coordinating reviews of the contractor’s technical assurance submittals in support of his design, build and certify responsibilities 
  • Review and close out of the RFI / NCR / FCD (project technical request) process and coordinating input from discipline specialists as required
  • Encourage, participate in and review non-conformance trend analysis and oversee the implementation of corrective and preventative actions 
  • Providing input into and reviewing engineering solutions / field sketches / specifications to resolve site-based queries and coordinating resolution of issues with the Client Construction Manager and Contractor
  • Continually monitor the contractor’s compliance with Quality, Environmental, Safety & Health requirements through review of contractors plans and procedures and site-based surveillance from project start up to handover 
  • Monitoring the contractor in ensuring that processes are identified and implemented to achieve contractual quality compliance and certification of the Works through close relationships with the Contractors key personnel
  • Review and recommend PM acceptance of contractor assurance documentation including final handover certification 
  • Draft Project Managers correspondence i.e. instructions, early warnings to ensure that cost, schedule, and the quality of the works are ensured. 
  • Participate in contract risk reviews 
  • Participate in schedule reviews and provide input from and engineering and quality perspective
  • Develop positive working relationships with key 3rd party stakeholders to ensure timely, cost effective resolution of issues. 
  • Liaise with the design Oversight team to ensure timely and effective review of Contractor deliverables
  • Provide contract administrators with input into payments certs and Project Managers Assessments of cost and schedule entitlements
