Specialising in the life sciences, medical technologies, oil and gas, energy and advanced technologies sectors, the Group provides consultancy and process engineering expertise to leading clients globally via their four operating business units.

One of these business units is DPS Contract Services. They provide contingent contract and temporary labour to the existing customer base within the engineering field for clients in the scientific and technology sectors throughout Europe via their network of offices located in Ireland, UK, Belgium and Holland. They also provide engineering staff to the various DPS divisions on a contract basis.


As a member of our R & D Department:

  • You will participate in the development of new carbon materials for applications in mobile energy and polymers.
  • It is your goal to further develop our scientific know how on carbon black synthesis process from chemical and kinetic point of view.
  • You will develop, plan and realiz249862.889517e innovative lab-scale and bench-scale carbon black processes and materials
  • You will be responsible to suggest improvements to existing processes and develop new processes with the aim to develop new products.
  • You will keep a close eye (identification and validation) of new technological trends in carbon black (or nanocarbon) fieldYou will coordinate and participate in internal R & D activities, but also with academic partners and participate in public funded R & D projects.
  • You will work closely together with colleagues from other departments.
  • You will participate actively in technical fairs and conferences.
  • You will report to the R & D Leader Process Technology.


  • The ideal candidate should have a master degree in chemical engineering, process engineering, material science or equivalent with a strong chemical background.
  • Preferably you have already several years of experience in a technical environment.
  • A Ph.D. is not a necessity but is considered as an advantage.
  • As our future R & D Scientist you live in the area of our Willebroek-site.
  • Needless to say you speak Dutch fluently in order to collaborate and communicate with your colleagues from other departments.
  • Your level of English is excellent.
  • You are a hands-on person. You’re at the top of your game when being able to do experimental work. Obviously you always have the theoretical knowledge to back this up.
  • You like multitasking. Working on several projects at the same time is something that motivates and challenges you.
  • You have a long-term vision and are committed to the creation of new innovative processes and products.
  • Your technical skills ideally include experience in chemical kinetics, fluid dynamics and thermodynamics. Basic understanding of computer modelling and analytical techniques is an asset. Additional knowledge in the field of nanoscience and carbon materials is an advantage.
  • Experience with process flow diagrams, development of piping and instrumentation diagrams and computer-aided design software is not mandatory but considered as a plus.Obviously we are looking for someone who is action oriented, a self-starter who can work both independently and in a team.
  • You have an eye for detail, are open minded and maintain a good innovative spirit.
