Position Summary:

DPS is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with a proven track record to join our Cary, NC team and support our growing workload. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to expand our electrical team. In cooperation with additional team members, the candidate should have the ability to lead design projects from feasibility to IFC stage as well as follow projects during construction. This resource will be heavily involved in the design of larger and more complex assignments which involve conventional types of plans, investigations and surveys with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents. Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations.

 

Responsibilities:

  •      Planning and design of all project phases for Biotech, pharmaceutical and life science facilities that range from feasibility reports, concept design, detailed design, construction documents to construction, post construction and commissioning
  •      Prepare calculations and plan the design documents of electrical system including normal, standby emergency and UPS power distribution and related equipment, lighting and lighting controls, fire detection and alarm systems, telecommunications, intrusion detection and alarm systems
  •      Must take ownership of assignments, can work both independently and as part of the team
  •      Identifying deliverables, defining requirements and creating design documents
  •      Ability to coordinate and interact effectively with other disciplines such as Process, Architecture, Structural, I&C and Mechanical, etc.
  •      Provide technical backup to the operations teams in resolving complex electrical problems
  •      Construction Administration activities include Contractor RFI responses, submittal reviews, field observations and reporting

 

Qualifications:

  •      10+ years of experience
  •      Bachelor’s Degree
  •      Professional Engineer (PE license) with ability to be licensed in numerous states preferred
  •      Knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD - Must be familiar with applicable codes and standards including but not limited to NEC, NFPA and ICC
  •      Excellent written and verbal communication
  •      Participation in project engineering coordination activities
  •      Results and customer oriented and ability to listen and work in a team

 

Other:

  •      Ability to travel to client meetings, presentations, conferences and company events
  •      Monday to Friday with overtime as necessary
