DPS are now recruiting for an Electrical & Instrumentation Department Manager based in our Dublin Office (Citywest). Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Department Manager, is responsible for managing and leading the electrical and instrumentation design and construction support activities within the Dublin Projects Operation.

Electrical and Instrumentation Manager

The Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Department Manager, reporting to the Engineering Manager is responsible for managing and leading the electrical and instrumentation design and construction support activities of the E&I department within the Dublin Projects Operation. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • The responsibilities of the role shall include but not be limited to the following:
  • Ensures that designs produced are technically correct, produced in a timely manner and coordinated with other disciplines.
  • Ensures the output of the department fully complies with the DPS Group Global quality standards and Client requirements.
  • Ensures the project hours are adhered to and that CN’s and PCN’s are produced where justified.
  • Ensures designs are independently reviewed prior to construction issue.
  • Manages the department while participating in the design activities.
  • Assesses E&I resources required for the projected department workload on an ongoing basis.
  • Managing department numbers to meet ongoing needs, increasing and reducing numbers where required.
  • Allocate design work to appropriate team members. 
  • Oversee relevant regulatory compliance on projects within the Dublin Projects Operation for Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate team members performance and conduct PDR reviews.
  • Assess and implement training requirements and ongoing development of the team.
  • Assist in the development and management of relevant technical standards and codes within the Dublin Projects Operation to align with the Group knowledge management system. Oversees the compliance of engineering deliverables to latest codes and standards. 
  • Prepare/Sign off deliverables and hours requests from project managers and others to allow for the preparation of proposals.
  • Work with the Engineering Manager and other department managers to progressively improve the efficiency of the company in providing designs that meet the Client’s needs.
  • Embed a culture of continuous improvement within the team. 
  • Assist in development and preparation of KPI’s such as efficiency, CPD etc.
  • Support the implementation out of Central Engineering initiatives
  • Support business development to meet company needs

Education & experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineering status or qualifications which will lead to such status (DPS Group encourages and supports its engineers on their route to chartered status).
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in discipline area with a minimum of 5 years in a design office environment. Must have previous experience as the Design Lead on projects.
  • Team management experience within engineering, pharma / bio life sciences, medical devices, microelectronics or similar industry.
