Energy Lead

 

The successful Energy Lead will be qualified with a Level 8 Engineering Degree. At least 5 years’ experience in an engineering, maintenance, or technical support area preferably including a significant utilities and/or energy management component.

License/Certificate Requirements:   Chartered Engineer Status (CEng/PEng) would be an advantage but is not essential.

 

CEM or CEA trained and experience with ISO-50001 Energy Management would be an advantage

 

The overall deliverable is to drive reductions in the overall site energy demand in order to reduce energy expenditure and to improve the environmental sustainability of the site.

 

This is to be attained by achieving the following objectives:

  • Leadership of the Site Energy Committee.
  • Development and ownership of a site energy management system in line with the requirements of ISO 50001 (with a path to potential certification to ISO 50001).
  • Ownership and development of the site register of energy saving opportunities and identification of new opportunities for addition to the register.
  • Ownership and utilisation of site energy monitoring and analytics systems.
  • Implementation of programme of area energy audits and assessments.
  • In depth appraisal (including technical and financial) of site energy saving opportunities to develop fully scoped energy saving initiatives and projects.
  • Oversight and implementation of energy saving initiatives and projects at the site.
  • Ensure major site projects incorporate energy efficiency in project design.

 

Additional Key Deliverables:         

In line with the outlined above, the following are typically the additional deliverables

 

  • Preparation and submission of funding requests for site energy projects to corporate Energy and Waste Reduction Fund (EWRF) and the local AMLT / CIR committee.   
  • Ensuring all relevant compliance requirements are met including the requirements of Energy Efficiency Regulations (S.I. No. 426/2014) and the energy auditing and energy efficiency requirements of the site Industrial Emissions licence.
  • Monitor plant energy and Significant Energy Users performance.
  • Follow-up on significant trends related to energy consumption and propose / implement correction measures as required.
  • Reporting of energy performance (including the status of site energy reduction opportunities) to specific site lead teams and to relevant corporate teams.
  • Forecasting site energy requirements and support energy budget development.
  • Liaise with all site areas and functions in relation to energy management matters.
  • Escalation of energy management related issues to appropriate level of site management.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for energy management and provide guidance and technical information related to energy efficient practices/improvements.
