Summary

The Director of Engineering will work in our Albany, NY office, reporting to the SVP of Operations, and be responsible for the consistent and coordinated execution of Engineering and Architecture project deliverables within the Albany Projects Operation. The role is accountable for managing and coordinating the cross-discipline interaction of the Albany Projects discipline managers with a focus on developing talent and providing innovative and technical solutions. The majority of projects will include, but are not limited to; semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or specialty chemical manufacturing facilities.

 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Central Engineering to achieve a consistent group execution approach with respect to procedures, work instructions, guidelines and execution of deliverables.
  • Participate in hiring of Lead Engineers across all engineering departments.
  • Development and execution of Design and Department technical KPI's for all engineering disciplines. Support operations for accurate forecasting and annual budgets for engineering disciplines to meet KPI's.
  • Implementation and roll-out of new engineering software tools and associated training.
  • Implementation and coordination with quality on roll-out of group systems and procedures, work instructions and associated training.
  • Support Business Development to meet DPS business needs such as technical sales, proposal preparation and client presentations. Participate in the development of norms in terms of deliverables and associated resource hours.
  • Coordinate with Project Management and Project Controls to align engineering systems and procedures with project resourcing and project delivery including Lean Project Execution.
  • Develop, manage and coordinate Albany Projects Operation SME program.
  • Manage and coordinate Albany Projects Operation technical training program for engineering personnel. This includes engagement with HR on graduate training schemes, CPD, career planning and training budgeting.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance of engineering deliverables to latest codes and standards on projects within the Albany Projects Operation.
  • Oversee development and management of relevant technical standards and codes within the Albany Projects Operation to align with Group knowledge management system, which includes the outline and maintenance of budgets for relevant codes and standards to be available to Engineering departments.
  • Participate and manage project design delivery technical quality compliance with the Albany Projects Operation by facilitating necessary design reviews and Lessons Learned sessions.
  • Manage Lessons Learned implementation. Coordinate with quality and facilitate internal technical quality audits and close-out of Corrective Actions for disciplines.

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree within the Engineering or Architecture fields required
  • 8+ years of experience in management
  • 10+ years working in an A&E consultancy firm environment
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) credential preferred
  • Previous Advanced Technology and/or Life Sciences project management experience a plus
  • Must be legal US resident (US Citiz447496.020251enship/Permanent Resident/Green Card)
