Safety Officer

Job Summary:

Support the safety planning process for contractor activities.  Provides oversight of contractor field activities as required to ensure compliance with EHS requirements. 

Core Responsibilities:

Support Safety Planning process by providing guidance on Method Statements development, including haz982939.066741ards identification and proposed control measures.

Provide Safety Induction Training for new contractor employees on EHS Guidelines.

Responsible for review and acceptance of safety planning documents (e.g., Method statements, Rigging Plans, Excavation Plans, etc.) for all contractor related activities.

Responsible for field inspections to identify violations to safety plan requirements or established EHS practices.

Support contractors on the resolution of safety violations to bring them into compliance with established EHS practices.

Support incident investigations to determine root causes and corrective action alternatives.

Responsible for documentation of safety inspection and incidents.

Communication: Displays good written and oral communication skills and employs effective listening skills.

Problem Solving: Analyses situations and makes sound recommendations in a timely manner to facilitate management decisions.

Interpersonal Skills: Tactful and mature demeanour with well good ability to work well with diverse personalities.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree 

Knowledge of OSHA Construction Industry Regulations (30-hr OSHA Training or equivalent)

At least 5 years experience in field construction activities
