Senior HVAC Mechanical Design Engineer with 7 to 10 years of experience designing semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or specialty manufacturing industries. Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills and have an understanding of the work and needs of other disciplines. Candidate shall have an understanding of project scheduling and sequencing of engineering activities. The position will work under the direction of the Lead Mechanical Engineer. This opportunity would be in support of our Albany, NY office location.

Key responsibilities:

  • ·      Work directly with lead engineers to design mechanical/HVAC systems.
  • ·      Coordinate with other disciplines.
  • ·      Identifying deliverables, defining requirements, creating design drawings (Revit + AutoCAD).
  • ·      Analyse heating and cooling loads (Trane Trace or similar).
  • ·      Create Airflow, Utility Flow, and Process and Instrumentation Diagrams.
  • ·      Siz59592.5597132e ductwork and piping along with perform pressure drop calculations for various systems.
  • ·      Conduct field surveys of existing facilities to gather design data, measurements, and documents for design.
  • ·      Prepare contract documentation, including drawings and specifications, which conform to industry standards, guidelines and regulatory agencies.
  • ·      Review equipment and material shop drawings for compliance with contract documents.
  • ·      Develop and mentor junior staff engineers and designers.
  • ·      Produce and check complex design drawings in accordance with project requirements, codes, specifications, and procedures.
  • ·      Analysis and optimise system design.
  • ·      Capable of walking unassisted through congested production sites, narrow corridors with trip haz59592.5597132ards, climbing ladders, working from scissor lifts, and climbing multiple stories of stairs under outdoor conditions while carrying up to 20 pounds in weight.
  • ·      Provide strong interdisciplinary communication.
  • ·      Safety oriented both in office, during travel, and on project sites.
  • ·      Other duties as assigned by Lead Mechanical Engineer.

 

Education and experience:

  • ·      BS in Mechanical Engineering at a minimum required, PE preferred.
  • ·      Minimum 7 years of design / consulting experience
  • ·      Proficient in developing sequences of operations and P and IDs.
  • ·      Proficient speaking before an audience of clients and stakeholders.
  • ·      Experience in MS Office, MS Project, Psychrometrics, AutoCAD, REVIT, and Navisworks required.
  • Strong knowledge in Excel.
