Process Data Scientist (Kerry)

 

The position is an entry-level position responsible for supporting the site in discovering the information hidden in vast amounts of data and assist in making smarter decisions to deliver even better products. The primary focus of this role will be in collecting and collating data, applying data mining techniques, statistical analysis, and working with key stakeholders to support the installation/adoption of high-quality data analysis systems. As a result, the outputs of these tasks should provide insights on OOT and OOS and identify process improvement areas.

 

Main Function of job: (Tasks may vary depending on business & organisation needs):

 

The position will have a heavy focus on developing the groundwork for a data analysis role within the organisation and partnering with both internal and global stakeholders and will include:

 

  • Being mentored by, and collaborating with, stakeholders to understand and represent department needs with respect to complex quantitative data sets.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders in defining the strategy for complex data analysis.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders in the creation of statistical models to solve specific operational problems.
  • Understand the impact of sources of variation (process and measurement) on decision-making. Provide effective guidance to planning and design of studies & investigations to include statistical analysis where required.
  • Participate from a statistical perspective in the development of departmental technologies, SOPs, processes and procedures.
  • The ability to strategically interpret statistical findings into a business significant context.
  • Providing consultation on data analysis and statistical tools in support of trend analysis, root cause analysis, failure investigation, risk assessment, data management and data visualiz756818.780519ation to Operations and Quality Departments.
  • Presenting and communicating statistical results to non-statisticians in an effective manner is required.
  • Support Data Science projects on local & global level to strengthen analytical processes and manufacturing processes.
  • Support and guide appropriate Personnel through understanding areas of data analysis. Support and statistical guidance for manufacturing investigations that have the potential to impact product quality and stable supply.
  • Drive a continuous improvement mind-set in relation to data collection, data analysis and data storage.
  • To train relevant employees on how to effectively employ statistics within their job functions.

 

Qualifications/education required: 

 

  • Bachelor's or higher Degree in an engineering / science or other quantitative field (i.e. Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, Chemistry etc.) preferred. Will consider relevant industry experience.

Experience Required:

 

  • Entry level position
  • Experience of statistical software essential.
  • Willing to take the initiative and offer creative solutions; strong trouble shooting skills.
  • Strong decision-making.
  • An understanding of probability, statistical process control, hypothesis testing, non-parametric statistics, time series analysis, linear and logistic regression etc.

 

Specialist training required: 

 

  • Working knowledge of Statistical Software packages such as Minitab and/or “Un-scrambler”.
  • Working knowledge of a statistical programming language (or language with statistical packages) such as R or Python.
