DPS is seeking a Process Piping Designer to work with one of our A/EPCM firm within the Albany, NY area. We are seeking a qualified process mechanical piping designer with experience in laying out chemical and mechanical utility piping for semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or specialty chemical manufacturing. The Process Piping Designer works under the direction of a supervising engineer.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Field survey and documentation of existing conditions for planning in new piping or modifying existing piping in manufacturing facilities.
  • Calculating pipeline loads for supports and pipeline thermal growth, and plan supports, anchors and guides to support the pipes and control pipe thermal growth as required.
  • Draft PFDs, P and IDs, equipment layouts, and piping layouts under the direction of a supervising engineer.
  • Support field laser scanning activities.
  • Capable of walking unassisted through congested production sites, narrow corridors with trip haz352395.594579ards, climbing ladders, working from scissor lifts, and climbing multiple stories of stairs under outdoor conditions while often carrying drafting and survey supplies and equipment of up to 20 pounds in weight.
  • Able and willing to pass a fit test for breathing apparatus to include respirators, filter masks, etc. as required by client safety policies.
  • Able and willing to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety shoes, hard hats, safety glasses, fire retardant clothing, cut resistant gloves, and other PPE as required per the requirements of clients’ safety policies.
  • Participate in team coordination activities with other disciplines, subcontractors, and Clients.
  • Participate in bid manpower and scope development.
  • Participate in project cost and schedule estimating.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience performing process piping drafting and design activities.
  • AA in Technical / Mechanical Drafting at a minimum preferred.
  • Training in AutoCAD 2017 and REVIT 2017 required at a minimum.
  • Experience using Navisworks is a plus.
  • Experience assisting in laser scanning is a plus.
  • Experience in drafting PDFs, P and IDs, and equipment layouts.
  • Software: MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, and REVIT. Navisworks is a plus.
