Project Manager – Supply Chain Process Excellence

A Project Manager is required to join a leading pharmaceutical business in Dublin on a contract basis. The project manager is a key member of the supply chain process excellence team working with the global commercial supply chain team to support volume growth and a new product launch. The team has responsibility for delivering an SAP roadmap to improve existing global supply planning process in preparation for volume growth and design of a new global supply planning processes for new products.

The supply chain excellence project manager will have the responsibility for the delivery of defined continuous improvement program for existing global supply planning process and the development of a new planning process for new product launches. The project manager will utilise tools and techniques of project management to ensure optimised delivery. The position works closely with SAP IT, Commercial Supply Chain, Quality Assurance and Validation


  • Support and drive core strategic improvement projects for existing global supply chain planning processes, focussed on IT development of streamlining and automation solutions in SAP
  • Support and drive core strategic redesign of global supply chain planning process for new products, on basis of observed improvements in existing process and learnings from observed constraints in existing process
  • Responsible for Global Supply Chain Key projects delivery, initiation of SAP IT development, management of SAP SMEs & QA in testing phase of projects and documentation of end-to-end SAP SCM process improvements
  • Global Supply Chain Key projects initiation, project charter, project initiation plan and requirements specification development, utiliz760020.019943ing standard project management methodology templates (PMI, Prince etc.)
  • Project Stage Gate Management: initiation plan and requirements specification approval to hand projects to IT teams for execution, sign off IT development to move to testing and go live
  • Change Management, development of plans to integrate completed SAP solutions to commercial supply chain planner’s business as usual
  • Monitoring and controlling projects in execution stages, project status reporting to SAP Transformation Governance Council
  • Project Budget Control, planned cost versus actual cost (consultancy, headcount) reporting to governance council
  • Process Mapping Workshops where required, communication of requirements utiliz760020.019943ing details process flows for ease of interpretation by IT teams
  • Document learnings from process improvements program to be leveraged for new product global process redesign endeavours
  • Build strategic relationships across commercial supply chain, IT, QA and Management Systems while pursuing needs for standardiz760020.019943ation, innovation, automation and process efficiency.


  • Five years’ experience of leading SAP IT teams in developing and implementing solutions for supply chain / procurement / manufacturing operations
  • Experience in operations environments, pharmaceutical, biologics, medical device, FMCG
  • Demonstrated experience of success implementing process improvement projects
  • Project management certification (PMP, Prince, IPMA) is beneficial
  • A strong working knowledge of supply chain planning and techniques
  • Working knowledge of SAP: SAP SCM, SAP MM, SAP MDM
  • Excellent management and communications skills
  • Experience in project status reporting to steering committee / governance council
  • Strategic mindset and experience supporting manufacturing operations
  • Ability to act decisively in an uncertain environment
  • Understanding of strategic planning functions, Demand Planning, MRP, Rough-Cut capacity planning, Supply Network Planning
