Lead Engineer - Utilities

Reporting to Engineering Operations Lead  The Utility Lead will be responsible for the start-up and Operational Readiness of Site Utilities onsite,

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Leading the discipline clean and/or black utilities and representing Clients interests in a project set-up
  • Technical responsibility for Utilities in large Biopharma projects from Basic Design until successful handover
  • Oversee the creation and development of engineering documents for Site Utilities
  • Reliable for the incorporation of Company standards / requirements and its full implementation into the project process
  • Collaboration with all parties involved for tasks such as equipment and systems design, specification, tendering, expediting, FATs, SATs, commissioning, qualification and start up
  • Development, review and approval of technical information including Safety Risk Assessments, Work Plans, Commissioning documents and CMMS data.
  • Establish Equipment Criticality and apply appropriate reliability and asset management strategy based on criticality
  • Ensure compliance to all Safety, regulatory GMP and Environmental requirements.
  • Working with technicians and other functions to develop Prescriptive, Predictive and Preventative maintenance program to ensure designated site equipment operate safe and reliable. Optimise work tasks, ensure spare parts, tools or other services are available when required.
  • Provide technical training to colleagues.
  • Develop and manage KPI’s - ie People, Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost performance.
  • Support Engineering Excellence Initiatives – participate in local and corporate programs.
  • Pursues and use new technologies and methodologies.
  • Own the initiation, management and closure of change initiatives.
  • Additional duties depending on project phase



  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Process, Chemical, Mechanical or Bio Engineering
  • In depth knowledge in the area of utilities for pharma and biopharma, project engineering from design to start-up
  • High energy levels with a passion for what you do

  • Ability to adapt to project situations at full speed and solution oriented decision taking
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, communication , and interpersonal skills particularly in stressful situations
