BMS Automation Engineer

Our client is a global pharmaceutical manufacturer based in Cambridge. They are looking to appoint a BMS Technician on a permanent basis. The main purpose of the role is to ensure that environmental control requirements and optimum energy consumption is achieved through the effective, efficient and reliable operation of BMS.

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise and subject matter knowledge relating to BMS, environmental control, and HVAC systems. Provide and present information at GMP regulatory inspections and audits.

Administer the BMS system across the site. Ensure the validated status of the BMS is maintained. Maintain and control access security. Collate and store data. Maintain and update records of BMS configurations. Maintain up to date procedures. Train other staff. Make changes to system operation, alarm control, users, trends and graphics as required and to continuously improve the BMS.

Coordinate alarm response and carry out fault finding, ensuring problem resolution and closure of deviations. analyse and report on trends and significant issues.

Support and coordinate Environmental Mapping exercises and ensure that any agreed findings are implemented.

Support annual environmental quality reviews and ensure that any agreed findings are implemented.

Support site projects as required, which involve BMS , to input/review proposals designs. Act as customer to receive projects at handover. Participate, as required, in pre-delivery inspections, factory acceptance tests, design reviews, vendor audits, commissioning, and qualification.

Ensure that calibration of instruments is performed on time and that any out of calibrations are managed.

contribute to the continuous improvement and development of maintenance by providing understanding and knowledge of operations needs, equipment performance, maintenance costs, downtime and reliability, including detailed analysis and reporting as required.

Implement solutions to monitor energy usage across the site.

Review and analyse energy consumption and identify energy savings opportunities.

Review energy billing and manage energy compliance reporting.

Ensure that all refrigerants used in building services equipment are managed and disposed of in accordance with the companies refrigerant management policy. Maintain F gas register.

Key experience required

Ability to work and collaborate with people across the organisation using problem solving tools and techniques

Details knowledge of GMP, GAMP, calibration, validation protocols and other regulations and their impact on BMS & HVAC

In-depth knowledge of BMS, HVAC, refrigerant management, energy efficiency and awareness of developing technologies

A thorough understanding of how to manage plant reliability, spares materials management, asset management tools and techniques.

A broad understanding of process equipment automation

Educated to at least degree level, or equivalent level or working experience
