DPS is a multi national Architectural/Engineering firm specializing in technical facilities for the Pharmaceutical, and Biotech industries. We are seeking an experienced Architectural Designer with a proven track record to join our Albany, NY team supporting our growing work load. This is an excellent opportunity for the right motivated individual to expand our architectural team. The successful candidate will work directly with the project architect and DPS internal teams on projects of all scales. Primary responsibilities will include supporting the design and planning process for multi faceted production facilities and the production and coordination of architectural construction documents under the direction of the Architectural Department Manager. DPS seeks a person with a strong architectural background and a minimum of 3 to 5 years of architectural work experience is preferred, newly licensed or on the path towards architectural licensure. Advanced technology facilities, semiconductor, biotech/biopharm and/or laboratory design experience preferred. Additional qualifications include Bachelors of Architecture or Masters of Architecture degrees, and proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD. This position requires strong organizational, communication and personal management skills.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop presentations, designs and technical solutions through all phases of a project.
  • Produce conceptual renderings for project and presentation purposes. Perform 3D Model walkthroughs with project team and clients.
  • Assist the Project Architect by taking responsibility for portions of the technical aspects of the project work, including design development, contract document preparation, and construction administration services for the project team.
  • Collaborate with the Project Architect, engineers and other consultants to execute the project goals.
  • Participate in company initiatives for quality control and ISO 9000 certification.
  • Work with clients, contractors and local officials under the direction of the project architect to coordinate construction issues.
  • Research building materials and coordinate into project specifications.
  • Must work collaboratively and effectively within a team.
  • Must have excellent written and communication skills.
  • Must be design oriented with excellent graphical skills.
  • Must have strong knowledge of assembling contract documents.
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable building codes.

  • Must have the ability to multi task, collaborate on projects, and work effectively in a team environment.

 

Education and experience:

  • Bachelors/Masters of Architecture degree with 3 to 5 years of architectural experience in biotech/bio-pharmaceutical and/or laboratory design preferred.
  • Must have strong knowledge and experience with Revit and AutoCAD. Sketch up, and other 3D software experience a plus.
  • Good report and technical writing skills desired with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with aspects of semiconductor, nanotech, biotech, and pharmaceutical industries a definite plus.
  • Demonstrating good interpersonal skills, attentive and approachable.
  • Maintains a professional and productive relationship with clients and coworkers.
