Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Process designer with experience in laying out piping, conduit, ductwork, and equipment for semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and/or specialty chemical manufacturing. The Designer works under the direction of a supervising engineer and reports to the Lead Engineer. This opportunity would be in support of our Albany, NY office location.

Key responsibilities:

  • ·      Designing 3D (Revit) complex Mechanical/Plumbing, Electrical, and/or Process systems for high technology facilities.
  • ·      Produce complex design drawings in accordance with project requirements, codes, specifications, and procedures.
  • ·      Analyse and optimise system design using Revit.
  • ·      Interdisciplinary clash detection using Navisworks and Revit.
  • ·      Utiliz304140.556861e laser scan point clouds from site surveys for new utility routing.
  • ·      Draft PFDs, P and IDs, equipment layouts, and piping layouts under the direction of a supervising engineer.
  • ·      Participate in team coordination activities with other disciplines, subcontractors, and Clients.
  • ·      Capable of walking unassisted through congested production sites, narrow corridors with trip haz304140.556861ards, climbing ladders, working from scissor lifts, and climbing multiple stories of stairs under outdoor conditions while often carrying drafting, survey supplies, and equipment of up to 20 pounds in weight.
  • ·      Able and willing to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety shoes, hard hats, safety glasses, fire retardant clothing, cut resistant gloves, and other PPE as required per the requirements of clients’ safety policies.
  • ·      Field survey and documentation of existing conditions for design of new systems or modification to existing systems.
  • ·      Support field laser scanning activities, as required. Other duties as assigned by engineer.

 

Education and experience:

  • ·      BS in Mechanical Engineering at a minimum required, PE preferred.
  • ·      Minimum 2 years of design / consulting experience or hands on field experience performing design, start up, and production support activities.
  • ·      Experience in developing sequences of operations and P and IDs.
  • ·      Experience directing design / drafting work.
  • ·      Experience speaking in front of an audience of clients and stakeholders is a plus.
  • Experience in MS Office, MS Project, Psychrometrics, AutoCAD, REVIT, and Navisworks preferred.
