Ring of Kerry 2017
The annual Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle 2017 took place on Saturday, 1st of July. Well done to all who participated, and congratulations to the 25 DPS team members who braved the testing weather conditions to complete the 180 Km trip.
The cycle, which is one of the biggest one day charity fundraising events in Ireland (please see below for a full list of charities), had over 1400 volunteers, marshals and stewards help guide the participants through the beautiful but difficult course through the historic region.
This was the 34th edition of the annual cycle, and legendary Kerry footballer Colm Cooper raised the flag to get cyclist underway with his biggest fan Amy O’Connor (10) from Killarney. Olympic Silver medallist Sonia O’Sullivan took part in the challenge (all three pictured on the right)
This year, the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle was dedicated to the late Annette Mannix of Killarney, who lost her life earlier this year.
