DPS Launches Construction Management Division in the U.S. Serving the Life Sciences Industry

DPS,  a Framingham-based architecture and engineering firm serving the life sciences industry, officially announced the launch of its Construction Management division in the U.S., as part of the overall growth strategy for the 40+ year old global firm.  Founded in 1974, with its corporate headquarters based in Ireland, DPS opened its Framingham office in 2011 to better serve its pharmaceutical and biotech clients in the Greater Boston and New England area, as well as the U.S.

“The decision to pursue this strategic initiative is to provide our clients with the option of a variety of project delivery models,” said Aidan O’Dwyer, Senior Vice President of Project Operations. “This will allow DPS to offer full EPCMV (engineering, procurement, construction management and validation), design-build, as well as standalone construction management services within the traditional design-bid-build model—providing our clients with comprehensive services throughout a project’s lifecycle.”

Over the past six years, DPS-Framingham has experienced rapid growth, currently employing a staff of over 120 people, offering full architecture and engineering services, commissioning, qualification and validation services for leading global pharmaceutical and biotech companies to include Sanofi Genzyme, AbbVie, Shire, Pfizer, Eli Lilly, Avecia Nitto Denko and Seres Therapeutics.

Carl Bradbury, who joined DPS in January 2016, will lead the construction management initiative. Bradbury brings over 20 years of experience having completed over $1 billion in total project costs for leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies—all of whom are currently DPS clients.  The firm has been performing construction management services since 1996, most of which has been provided in Ireland, Belgium and Spain for global clients such as Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Janssen Biologics and Takeda Pharmaceuticals to name a few.  Presently, U.S. construction management services will focus on New England-based clients.  With extensive knowledge in the life sciences industry for retro-fit and Greenfield manufacturing facilities, the firm can provide highly-skilled experts across all discipline.

“We recognize the growing trend in the market sectors we serve as to the benefit our clients will receive from an integrated supplier who can provide a variety of delivery models,” added O’Dwyer. “Our goal is not to promote one method over the other, but rather we will be able to provide the most appropriate delivery model for every client and project need.”
